10 TIPS FOR THE BEST WEEKEND
AMSTERDAM | August 12, 2017
It’s weekend! That means it is time to think about what to do. Instead of sleeping all day because of a hangover or watching Netflix on the couch until you go to bed, there are much more fun and productive things to do! Since I work as my own boss, I need to manage not to work in the weekend. I try to be as productive during the week so I have the weekends free to do other things. This helps me to clear my mind, to have a good focus on Monday but above all, it gives me a good mood. Here are my 10 things to do to make the best out of your weekend!
I never thought I do say this, but I honestly love a good workout! Even though I workout daily, I love to take my time in the weekends and do something different. Go working out with my boyfriend, have a run in the park or go cycling outside instead of a weekly spinning class. Where I usually go to the gym by the end of the day, I love to go for an early workout in the weekend. I promise you will feel energized for the rest of the week!
2. MEET WITH FRIENDS
Weekends are of course the perfect days to catch up with friends. Now when I am getting more and more busy, I usually don’t have time during the weekdays, so in the weekends I try to catch up with my friends, go out for a lunch or dinner together, but even a coffee is fine. And don’t forget about that girl’s night out or sleepover party! Especially the last one is the best way to keep up with the fun gossips.
3. CLEAN YOUR CLOSET
Nothing that gives me a more satisfied feeling than a clean closet. I love to spend the whole Sunday on organizing my closet and try everything I haven’t been wearing for a while to see if it still fits or if I still like it. If not, I immediately remove it from my closet to create some space for new items. Next to that, when cleaning you often find things you totally forgot about. Have a jacket which is missing a button? Than repair it the same day. Find a dirty shirt? Throw it in the laundry bag for your next round. Doing your closet means you have to do everything.
4. SELL OLD STUFF
Because I am a blogger, I get a lot of packages during the week with clothes, beauty and other stuff. But since I don’t want to be a total hoarder (my boyfriend already thinks I am) and keep a little organized closet and bathroom, I sell things now and then to keep it clean. My favorite way to sell stuff is online because it doesn’t take too much effort and goes fats. But of course a market is also an option! Ask some friends who might want to join you, because we all have things we don’t want anymore. By the way, you can shop my more budget items here and and designer pieces here.
5. DO SOMETHING CULTURAL
I have to admit, I always say to myself to do this more often but I totally suck at it. Don’t know why actually because it can be so much fun! Doing something cultural is often a cheap way of spending your day (compared to an expensive lunch or going to the cinema). You can go to some museums for less than €10 and they can be really fun. Next to that, you also learn something new which might be interesting to tell on your next lunchdate.
6. PLAN A DATE
If your single you really should be dating because it’s so much fun! Dating doesn’t mean kissing and more, it means meeting new people and see if you have a connection or not. If not, well, than at least you had a good time. If yes, you might be on for a next date. And for all the couples; plan a date with your boy-/girlfriend! My boyfriend and I are both business bosses so we are both busy. Even though we see each other almost everyday, it doesn’t mean we really ‘see’ each other. Do you get it? Plan something fun. Do all the things I just mentioned. Go out for breakfast, walk in the park etc etc. This will definitely give you a good mood!
7. CLEAN YOUR HOUSE
Next to cleaning your closet, you shouldn’t forget your house. Because of being my own boss, I often don’t have the time nor the mood to clean my house during the week. Result? A messy and dirty home with sand and hair everywhere. IEWL! Time to get that vacuum cleaner and mop to clean the house! Put on loud music (say sorry to your neighbors in advance) and start cleaning. Really, when you’re done you will feel more than satisfied.
8. ORGANIZE A PICKNICK
Another fun and cheaper way to catch up with friends is by organizing a picknick. While a lunch out often costs about €20 to €30, you can organize a picknick for around €5 per person and have the best time together, outside! And the more people who going the better. So definitely ask them to take their fiends, boy- or girlfriends with them!
9. VISIT YOUR FAMILY
Let’s take myself as an example. I live in Amsterdam and my parents/family live about one hour by car or train. Not so much right? Even though the distance isn’t this big, I don’t visit them regularly while I actually should! There are many excuses to find to not go, but planning a day with your family often does so much good. You’re happy to see them, they’re happy to see you; now everyone has a good weekend right?
10. PLAN A SPA DAY
And if you really feel like being all by yourself, you can always plan a spa day. Well, not that you can do this without friends, because even with friends it is a good idea to plan a spa day. I have to admit, I only go to the spa when I can wear my bikini since I am not really into seeing uhm.. naked people. But you know, some people are fine with it. Anyway, a spa day is good for your body (especially after a workout) and for your mental health, so consider booking one for the weekend!
