HOBBIES THAT MAKE YOU SMARTER
AMSTERDAM | February 22, 2017
Lately I have been talking a lot about styling and how to ‘upgrade’ your look with colors and prints. And as much as this look screams to be named, I wanted to get back to basic and talk about some lifestyle with you. I already told you that January was a little No-month for me. I wasn’t in the mood I supposed to be in. That really effected my behaviour, work but also the way of talking. At this point, where I felt like I didn’t liked anything, I realised I had nothing to talk about as well. Something that was totally the opposite of how I usually feel, because I do like to talk a lot.
That’s where my interests changed. I wanted more. Life can’t be about work, friends and going out only, right? Lately I have been focussing a lot on new hobbies that inspired me to do more, and even though they take some of my rare free time, it turns out that I am much more productive in the things I need to do. Here are some hobbies you should try out, not only because they make you happy, but also because they make you smarter!
Exercise and food: Exercising is really a mindset I had to make (I am not this natural sporty girl), but once I start I get addicted. I love to be in the gym, sweat my stress out and relax. When I know I can go to the gym, I am much more productive in my work as well, cause I have something to look forward to. When going to the gym, you also start a healthy lifestyle more automatically. Your body asks for vitamines in fruits and vegetables, which will activate your brain to preform better. So not only your summer body improves, you get smarter as well!
Reading: Another therapy is reading, which I tell myself to do more often everyday. Instead of being on our phones for two more hours before we fall asleep, it’s much healthier to read an actual book before the light goes out. Especially if you read some self-improvement, literature or business books you even work on yourself in your lazy hours.
Learning a new Languages: One of my new year’s resolutions was to learn a new language. Even though I haven’t started yet – I know, blame on me – I definitely will learn one this year. Besides the fact that it is super useful on your next trip, it is also a lot of fun to learn a new language. I mean, how cool is it to impress your friends when you order in Italian the next time you eat pasta together, right?
Creativity: Being creative is in my nature. It’s another therapy for me. I am the most in my comfort zone when I can work on something, no matter if it is photograhy, editing, making jewelry or painting. Making music would be one of them as well, but unfortunate enough I am not Beyoncé yet (even though my hair looks like it today). Being creative works the same with exercising; it activates the brain to work faster and collect more information, so you are getting smarter by doing what you love.
Autobiographies, Documentaries and Potcasts: Instead of watching a 2 hours comedy or series about the perfect Hollywood life, you should go for some autobiographies or documentaries. Services like Netflix offers great education with some amazing Netflix-own documentaries that are not only super interesting to watch, but will also give you knowledge about things you had no idea of. Same with potcasts. Try them out the next time you are in the gym, when cooking or when you are cleaning your house. I am sure you and your brain will love it!
