A subject I like to talk about a lot, is how to be a better person and how to feel like a better person and love yourself in that way. One of these steps is to become more positive about things in life. If there is one thing I often hear from others, wether it’s in real life or through the internet, is that I am such a positive person. I even got questioned ‘How can you be happy all the time?!’. This actually makes me laugh, because of course I am not happy every time of the day. I do also have my ups and downs and sometimes feel shitty about myself. And well, that’s okay. It’s okay to have these feelings now and then. To cry or be angry. But don’t let this rule your life. Try to see the good in anything that pass in life. That is what I try to do everyday and, like I said, people often envy me for being this happy and positive all the time.
Now let me tell you a short story, because I wasn’t always like that. I used to be a very negative person instead. It’s in my nature and in my roots, to think more black than white. Then, 2,5 year ago during Christmas, I got a car crash with my brother which almost costs our lives because I was being too angry, too negative and too foolish again. From that moment on, something changed in me. I really saw the ‘light’ in there. Life is so short, so precious and actually so beautiful that we shouldn’t be negative all the time. We shouldn’t grumble on everybody who is in our way. And we shouldn’t take things for granted. That’s why I am happy all the time. Happy to be alive. Happy to live my life the way I want and share it with beautiful people.
Now it may sound like it all happend within a moment of time, but of course not. It took me years and I am sure it will still take years to get there, cause there are always things to be negative about. But really, try to see things in sunlight. Like I wrote in a previous article on how to turn your bad habits into good ones, you can do that with energy too. Everything in life has two sides. It’s black or white. For me there isn’t grey. Instead of seeing black all the time, try to search for the whites. Think in solutions instead of problems and see beauty in things that may appear ‘ugly’ at first.
When I have darker days, doing something I like helps me to think white again. To be the positive and be that happy Floortje everybody knows and sees in the vlogs. Try to fill in your days with things that makes you happy. If you have to go to school which you don’t like or your job which you are bored of, than plan something before or after that to look forward to. And again, think in solutions. This job is giving you security in life and school helps you to can that job, so the security. When you keep on saying that to yourself, you are going to believe it one day.
And if this isn’t working yet, than dress playful to cheer you up. I mean, everybody gets happy of leopard print, polka dots and lips on your blazer, right? Make it a happy rest of the weeks loves and let me know how you see the whites in a black room! XO
