I always try to wear something that makes me happy. Whether it is a nice skirt or soft cashmere sweater. I often feel the pressure to wear something unique, bold and fashionable tho. Mixing colors and prints and go crazy with accessories. As much as I love to do this now and then and wear glitters like a real Barbie, I also often feel like dressing down. Just wearing a skinny jeans with a basic tee. Or a plain leather trousers with a turtleneck – my to go outfit.
For me, turtlenecks are nothing more than practical because I am always cold – no kidding. Next to that I just love the way how they look on people. If you would ask me than the whole world – men and woman – should wear turtlenecks. But that is something else. Now this is the thing; I often feel Quilty that I go for that turtleneck again. No matter how I combine it, it is my comfortable piece and I want to do fashionable. Help! I now hear you thinking ‘Jeez girl, just wear whatever you like’ but I am sure there are some who understand me. Because with all the influencers out there, practical fashion almost sounds like a dirty word. You have to wear heels and mini skirts to be stylish, but gosh I hate it.
So let’s accept practical fashion and wear those skinny jeans, sneakers and (in my case) turtlenecks again, right? As long as this style makes you happy, you can rock it in any possible way. Try to not feel the street style-influencer-pressure and see practical as something good. I mean, no one is going to walk the dog with high heels on, right? This doesn’t mean you have to banish all your heels, dresses and glittery earrings, but try to find a balance between the two. That is at least what I try to do. Still wear my cashmere turtleneck with my leather trousers, because I love it the most, but cheer it up with some big earrings and my Miu Miu bag. Voila, balance between practical and fashionable found! :-)
