Maybe you planned your next trip to a sunny destination already, or maybe not in case you are a last-minute booker (like me). Either ways, it’s easy to know the best ways of packing if you are traveling this summer. You don’t want to walk about with a suitcase that is too heavy for you to handle, right? In this post you will find the right tips to travel light this summer. No more suitcases that doesn’t close, but a carry on that still has enough space for you to shop!
1. ONE SUITCASE, ONE BAG
Especially when you are on a city trip like I was here to Krakow, you often don’t take check -in luggage with you. Just a carry on is enough. Yes, it really is. When I go on a city trip with just a carry on, I always make sure to have a bigger bag with me. In this I will carry on my laptop, camera, book, water bottle and a small crossbody bag with my phone, wallet, passport etc. And in case I shop a little too-much, I can always put something extra in my bag. Next to that, I try to keep my carry-on suitcase as empty as possible. Two pairs of shoes is the max (one pair in the suitcase and one pair on your feet) as well as just one bottom which I like to mix with two tops. Take a light skirt or dress with you as well and you have enough to combine!
2. USE MINI’S
The heaviest thing in my suitcase is always my beauty bag. That is why I try to take only mini’s with me when I am traveling for less than a week. This doesn’t only safe you a lot of space, but is also easy in case you need to pack/unpack quick. If you make sure you always have a little bag filled with the mini’s you need, you never have to worry about packing your skincare and make-up again!
3. MAKE SETS
If you prepare your outfits well, it also safes you a lot of space and time. Like I mentioned earlier, take two tops for one bottom. Than you have two outfits, which take just one place. Make sure you can combine all your outfits with just two pairs of shoes. Wear some comfortable booties or sneakers in the plane and take some heeled sandals with you. Thank you have something for every occasion. At last, fold everything neat! This prevents from ironing everything when you unpack your suitcase and also makes that you can take a little more with you.
4. LIGHT CLOTHING
When you’re going on a summer holiday, you can really pack light. Take just one sweater or cardigan with you for on the plane or chilly evenings and keep the rest light weight. The shirt dress I am wearing here is a great example. You can wear it both during day and night time and is (almost) as light as a feather. Easy to wear with the sandals or some sneakers and with a cardigan on top for when it’s colder. Layering is the key-word when it comes to packing light!
5. YOU CAN ALSO BUY IT
Nothing nicer than shopping on a holiday. I always tell myself that, if I really miss something, I can get it there. Don’t freak out if you want a new bikini but couldn’t find it in your home town, so you take 3 old pairs with you. Keep it simple, take just one pair and maybe shop a new one on your destination. You better want to make sure you still have some space left for the travel back home!
